The inherent problem with organization (I)
I quit my last formal organization last year, after having been a member of various such the last ten years. I felt very good about it. It was clearly the right thing to do.
A network of free agents and truly autonomous groups of change is the way to go.
I more or less lost faith in the usefulness of formal organizations in the early nineties, but after having stumbled into the Pirate Party through friendship, I stumbled a few more times through similar circumstances. Now, I am once again free as a bird. It feels great.
Formal organizations will inevitably pull you to moderate views if you aren't constantly aware of the inherent dangers. Moderate views are dangerous. Current human society is dominated by mainstream, centrist fanaticism. That is more than anything a threat to human existence and well-being on so many levels.
My time there wasn't a total waste. I did learn a few useful things, but that was in spite of, not because of the given organization.
As stated, the obvious answer to the vast human problems is that we should be an informal network of free agents owing no organization loyalty and dedication.
Yes, I was deeply dissatisfied with my membership in the last formal organization, and pondered quitting for a long time until I finally got fed up and did. Now, when it has been discontinued, I feel like I can actually breathe again, something I always experience when I finally liberate myself from such suffocating chains.
I was a member of the UK Green Party from 88 to 91, of the Norwegian counterpart from 89 to 91. I told them both we would never get anywhere without drastically changing human inhuman society. They didn't listen, closing their ears to all such notions. They haven't improved since.
I was a member of NOAH, a professed animal liberation organization a few years later. Same.
I was a member of the Norwegian Pirate Party from 13 to 23. Same.
Extinction Rebellion, Fridays for Future, Stop Nato, Antiwar Initiative. Same. Quite a few people, the same fundamental, glaring flaw in basic understanding of reality and inhuman, oppressive society.
Is it a protest if you seek permission in advance???
You may claim it is me, and in a backward way, you are correct... since I refuse to be a part of establishment, centrist bodies. An organization being a part of a given society, following its rules and supporting its general foundation will never change anything significant. To truly change one part of it, you need to change all of it in drastic ways. It is indeed all or nothing, baby.
I’m long since sick and tired of moderates, of centrists and anything resembling it. They are, as stated, a severe danger to humanity and all life on the planet. Humanity is committing collective suicide, and people in the above-mentioned and similar organizations care about appearances.
Movements, parties, organizations that keep choosing the moderate alternative have no future. People will choose the radical solutions. That is what will excite them, making them believe in the possibility of a better life.
