A given country isn’t a democracy when the establishment has close to full control of all important functions in that country, including the media. It is, in fact far from being one. It’s so fake it can possible be. Most people are convinced that there is a democracy if there are a vote and a selection of several political parties to choose from, but that merely is yet another strong indicator of how propagandized they are, not how free they are to choose.
There is no true choice, only the illusion of such.
All estates in most countries are fanatical defenders of the establishment, of the status quo. The people calling themselves journalists, for instance aren’t that at all, but sentries guarding the public opinion. There is no true change, except those tightening the already tight rubber band. They claim that you can say what you want, but the obvious truth is that you can only say what they permit you to say. If you step outside the accepted parameters, you are in various ways silenced. There is usually no need to use physical force to do that. Those in charge don’t need to put people in jail or restrain them physically to limit their freedom of speech and expression. It’s mostly done by keeping truly subversive speech outside the public debate, delegating it to obscure venues and dark cellars.
No one can convince me that such a society is a democracy, or even its approximate.
Then we have the very icing of the cake, the massive propaganda and brainwashing everyone is subjected to from the cradle that obviously work, and work extremely well. No society drowning in establishment propaganda can ever be a democracy. All western countries are tyrannies packed with brainwashed people unable to make truly independent decisions and form their own opinion about anything important.
No, today’s professed democracy is a sham, a cruel joke those in charge play on us in order to control us better, and it works. We see that practically everywhere. I would say there is no country on the current Earth where true freedom reigns. Some countries are closer to it, but they, too, freeze the parameter within the limit of acceptable opinion.
Like I’ve stated and restated quite a few times: A society with a justified respect for itself mustn’t merely accept truly alternative and critical thinking and action, but strongly encourage it from the cradle to the grave, teach children, adolescents and adults to think, not telling them what to think. Today, the opposite is true. Today, we are kept in check by a thousand strands of a spider’s web, strands turning to invisible chains during early childhood. It’s a miracle that anyone has anything even resembling independent thought left today. The reason we still have that is that we live in a seemingly benevolent dictatorship, but the noose is tightening with each generation. Make no mistake: those in charge want total control, or as close to it they can possibly get. They have had an enormous success, mostly by training people to govern themselves. As stated, they usually don’t need to get physical, even though the threat of violence from the police and the army is there all the time.
Yes, most people become more and more obedient with each new generation. We need to make haste to end that, end it completely. The fake democracy will never, can never be an agent of change, of course. It will never be anything but a tool in the vicious hands of the rich and powerful.
«The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum»...
